BRIARCLIFF
MANOR, N.Y., Dec. 21, 2006 – Being part of the team at four major
championships, Ryan Batz knows what it takes for a golf course to reach
its peak. The new golf course superintendent for Trump National Golf
Club, Westchester, has groomed famed layouts at Pebble Beach (2000
U.S. Open), Bethpage (2002 U.S. Open), Shinnecock Hills (2004 U.S.
Open) and Baltusrol (2005 PGA Championship), forming his eye for details
that will be central to his approach at Trump Westchester.
Batz, 28,
from Bernville, Pa., comes to Westchester from Trump National Golf
Club, Bedminster, where he served as golf course superintendent
for nearly two years, managing a program to obtain "tournament quality" playing
conditions daily. A member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association
of America, Batz also was assistant superintendent at East Hampton (N.Y.)
Golf Club, where he assisted in the final grow-in, and Moraga (Calif.)
Country Club, where he implemented a 10-year master plan that included
building two new greens and 15 new greenside bunkers.
Weighed against
a medical career, working outdoors was more appealing to Batz, who
changed his initial pre-med path and instead took courses
to attain his degree in turfgrass science at Penn State University.
While completing college, Batz worked at his hometown club, Green Acres
Golf
Club, where he got his first job at age 14 golf cutting weeds around
trees. He juggled his studies while working first as assistant superintendent
and then as superintendent at Green Acres.
Batz, who is engaged to
be married next spring, lives in Easton, Pa. Trump
National Golf Club, Westchester, is one of six golf properties owned
by Donald J. Trump and managed by Trump Golf Properties,
LLC. Trump Golf properties include:
Trump National Golf Club
in Westchester, New York
Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey
Trump National Golf Club, Los Angeles, California
Trump International Golf Club, Palm Beach County, Florida

Grenadines
Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, to be built at Menie
